Hello, Unit 498 Members!
We hope you’re enjoying the best of summer this month and that you’re still fitting lots of bridge into your schedules. Speaking of longer days, we are continuing
our fundraising efforts on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association through the end of the month.
Many thanks to Jeanne Urich, Kit Morse and Barbara Lewis, and the Millbrae Racquet Club who sponsored activities recently to bring bridge players together in supporting the cause. The bridge
was relaxed yet competitive and the camaraderie was genuine.

July Unit Game
Kai Eckert directed our July 19th Unit game, which drew 56 players. In the Open division, the top finishers overall and N/S were Phil Kuhn and Dan Raider, who earned just over 5 masterpoints
that afternoon. Placing first E/W were Kenneth Hui and Edward Lee. Many other pairs scored masterpoints as well, including Roger Dewes and Mike Halliday; Fred Chasalow and Janelle van
Rensselaer; Pete Goldsmith and Janice O’Brien; Debbie Carey and Siuling Ku; Genie and Jeff Reynolds; Robert Ng and Barbara Shukov; Bob Gleason and Aster Wu; and Arline and Jim Van Ness. Well
played all!
Five tables battled it out in the 499er division, with Pamela Resser and Lauren Rosen (E/W) scoring first overall. Paula Linden and Leslie Braker placed first N/S, with Carol Lashman and Eileen
DiGiorgio; Allan Abrams and Donna Jang; and Helen Kishi and Kathy Yulo also earning masterpoints.

Swiss Teams Game
Whether or not you’ve joined in one of our first two Summer Swiss Teams Series games, you’re heartily invited to the third one on August 13th at 6:30 at the Villa. Please come early with your
partner and teams and matchups will be decided that night - No pre-registration required. We’ll have prizes for the winners and we look forward to announcing our Fall Series. These
games are great fun for everyone, and we’re working to improve the process to run them efficiently.
Mentor / Mentee Program
Thanks to all the Mentors and Mentees who have joined the M/M program so far this year! We’re planning another Pizza Party to launch our final set of games on Wednesday, August 20th at 6:30 at
the Villa. The two following games will be online on Thursdays September 25th and November 6th. Watch for an email to all players from Kit Morse, or contact her yourself to get involved:
