Thank You for Helping Us Do What You Love to End Alzheimer’s!

We did it—and you made a difference!

Thank you for your generous contributions and enthusiastic participation in Unit 498 and the Peninsula Team’s Do What You Love to End Alzheimer’s campaign benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. Thanks to your support, we surpassed our $40,000 goal and raised more than $41,000. We also finished among the top ACBL fundraising teams nationally!

Your donations directly support cutting-edge Alzheimer’s research, care and resources for people living with the disease and their families, and efforts to raise awareness of this devastating illness. Through your generosity, we are one step closer to finding a cure and improving the lives of everyone affected by Alzheimer’s.

We are grateful not only for your financial contributions, but also for the time, talent, energy, and wonderful positive attitudes you brought to this campaign. Your participation in our bridge-learning opportunities, social activities, events, raffles, and Unit games helped make the campaign both successful and joyful.

A special thank-you to our wonderful bridge teachers and mentors who generously shared their expertise: Robert Ng, Mark Sorenson, Bob Gleason, Raad Bunni, Sue Papilion, Kai Eckert.

Thank you to Barbara Seagram for donating her video lesson with notes, and to Audrey Grant and her team for providing a live lesson with video and notes, access to four additional classes, and her daily bridge hand. These internationally renowned bridge experts generously offered their gifts to support our cause.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to those who hosted and supported our special events:
  • Ed and Linda Lechner for opening their home for a wonderful supervised bridge session followed by dinner
  • Janelle Van Rensselaer and Gary Porter for supervised bridge, marvelous hospitality, and delicious lunches
  • Kit Morse and Barbara Lewis for hosting a delightful evening of bridge with different partners, shared dishes, a wonderful raffle, and plenty of laughs
  • Janice Carter and the Millbrae Racquet Club for their superb annual fundraising efforts
Thank you to everyone who participated in our raffles at the Unit games and other events, and to all who donated raffle items. Special thanks to: Fred Chasalow for the wine selections, Janelle Van Rensselaer for filling the raffle table, Greg Carey, husband of Debbie Carey, for donating his beautiful handmade pottery, and Kit Morse for donating handmade quilting items

We are also especially grateful to those who made the April–June Unit Games and raffles such a success: Sandra Tilch, for spearheading the decorations; Leslie Braker and Eileen DiGiorgio, for coordinating the food and Unit Games; and Jenny Kuhn, for directing the Unit Games.

Alzheimer’s disease has affected millions of lives, and many of us have experienced its impact personally. Thank you for caring about those living with the disease and their families, and for helping advance the fight against Alzheimer’s. Together, through bridge, friendship, generosity, and community, we are making a difference.

With sincere thanks,
