Bay Area High Scool Bridge Tournament
April 23, 2017
Peninsula Youth Bridge is now in its third year. Volunteers from our unit are teaching bridge to 19 high school students at Mills, Burlingame, San Mateo and Hillsdale high schools. PYB has also started a program at Bowditch Middle School in Foster City where 24 students are learning to play bridge.
On Sunday, April 29, 2018, Bayshore Bridge Center will host the Fourtrh Annual Bay Area High School Bridge Tournament.
At last year's tournament there were 55 students, ages 14 to 18, who participated in the Team Championship as well as the Afternoon Pairs game. We had 16 students from Peninsula Youth Bridge participate. All of our students
did us proud with their conduct, knowledge of bridge etiquette, their bidding and their play.
Mills High School team, Slammers, won 4th place in the team games. There were 10 teams. The Slammers did well as this was their first team competition.
San Mateo High School students won first place in the Newcomers Section.
Mills High School students placed third overall in the Afternoon Pairs game.
Peninsula Youth Bridge is part of the Center for Bridge Education, a non-profit, tax deductible organization, that encompasses San Francisco and the Peninsula.
Peninsula Youth Bridge is looking for a person who is good at fund raising to help with its long term goal of raising enough money to send two or three students to the ACBL Youth Bridge Championships. Please contact Jeanie Kwong (email@example.com) if you are interested or know someone who would be willing to volunteer.
