Peninsula Youth Bridge

Peninsula Youth Bridge just completed its second year. Volunteers from our unit taught bridge to 18 high school students at Mills, Burlingame, San Mateo and Hillsdale high schools.

On Sunday, April 23, Bayshore Bridge Center hosted the Third Annual Bay Area High

School Bridge Tournament. There were 55 students, ages 14 to 18,

participating in the Team Championship as well as the Afternoon Pairs game.

We had 16 students from Peninsula Youth Bridge participate. All of our students

did us proud with their conduct, knowledge of bridge etiquette, their bidding and

their play.

Mills High School team, Slammers, won 4th place in the team games. There were 10 teams. The Slammers did well as this was their first team competition.

San Mateo High School students won first place in the Newcomers Section.

Mills High School students placed third overall in the Afternoon Pairs game.

Peninsula Youth Bridge is looking for a person who is good at fund raising to help with its long term goal of raising enough money to send two or three students to the ACBL Youth Bridge Championships. Please contact Jeanie Kwong (penyouthbridge@gmail.com) if you are interested or know someone who would be willing to volunteer.
