The cost: a nominal $7.00/ member; $10.00/ non-member. That evening, we announce the winners of the Joe Schmitz and Diamond Awards as well as the Ace of Clubs and Mini-McKenney Awards. Sunday, June 8th is our Unit Game. Socialize at 5:15 p.m. Dine at 5:30. Play at 6:15.
July 12th and 13th—our July Summer Sectional—again at the San Mateo County Expo Center. The event in March was a triumph orchestrated by Fran Ball and her volunteers. Our most successful players at the March Sectional were Joan Baker, Pat Galligan, Kris Tejwani, Dan Raider, David Silber, Robert Ng, Betsey Schneider, Maye Soules, Frank Jackson and Arlie Lamb. Dan Raider and David Silber garnered two firsts. Joan Baker, Kris Tejwani, Bruce Bishop and Paul Levine won one first place. Fran promises an even bigger and better tournament for July.
Janet Grove, Linda Schwarz, Karin and Bill Rabin competed successfully at the Philadelphia Nationals. They scratched for Gold on Tuesday, 3/11 in Knockout Teams. Pauline Berkow and Ron Kauffman enjoyed cruising aboard the Princess Regal. Topping off their bridge experience at the very well run matches was a 74.40% overall win.
Joanne McConnell regrets our invitation to honor her as a new Life Master April 19th. After working with clients on taxes nearly 24-7 for three months, she’s flying off on vacation April 16th. She wrote, “I truly appreciate the invite and all of the people and fun bridge I’ve enjoyed at the club (in all its locations!). Thanks to all who played with me. Because of your kindness and expertise, I was able to reach this milestone.”
Al Egerman has been missing from Bayshore. He, too has been involved with tax returns. He’s one of a group of volunteers helping people file taxes. Now that he’s back at the tables, he promises to concentrate on scoring results on the right line. After perfecting that technique, he’ll teach it to others. Welcome back, Al.
Kudos to Patty Frederick for capturing the St. Patrick’s Day mood with her corned beef and cabbage, her decorations plus a club championship rated game. A Overall winners: James & Rosemarie Dean, Ron Buck & Sandra Edmonson, Donald & Elise Stone; B: Dean Wangsvick & Joanne Allen, Dimitri Sgolombis & Martie Moore, Ralph Levin & Nancy Gordon; C: Derlyn Gagnier & Lorraine McCloud, Alec Stanculescu & Dennis Teske, Jane Lane & Wanda Ross. If Patty keeps it up, she’ll be known as Ste. Patty.
