Welcome to our new members, Edwin and Rose Bauer, Penny Bellamy, Ernie Benesch, Carol and Sheldon Fein, Arthur Fritz, Mark Herbach, Zakir Mohammed, Ted Richmond and Lawrence and Rochelle Rosler. Some frequented our Bayshore Bridge Club often and decided to transfer in. Others are new to the area. In either case, we wish them friendship, enjoyment and success at the bridge tables.
Our New Year’s Eve party, reported on last month, preempted January’s Unit game. But, there was a special game to report, the ACBL International Fund Game. The winners were: A Overall: Pat Litfin & Bob Robbins, Joanne Allen & Dean Wangsvick and Marion Baer & Betty Blumlein. B Overall: Charles Berger & Jan Mrazek, Richard Louthan & partner and Carol Gerlach & Phil Karp.

Also, many of our players competed and succeeded at the Monterey Clambake Regional and San Francisco Winter Sectional. Sara Rae Miller and Carole Ringoen made Life Master at Monterey. Carol Gerlach made even more than the 1/10th Silver point she needed for Life Master at San Francisco. The best scores by club regulars: Yatindra Sahae, Hamish Bennett, Randy Sahae, Steve Kanzee, Steve Jones, Doug Keller, Arlie Lamb, Don Doolittle, Zakir Mohammed, Cheryl Haines, Janet Grove, Linda Schwarz, Hanan Deeby, Bernard Figueiredo, Miwako Litwin, Ted Richmond, Sara Foster, Mary Omodt and Carole Ringoen.
Our board wants to attract young players. It feels that bridge lessons would be a great inducement to those players. Bridge teachers please notify Ellie Stauffer of hours available at (650) 692–6492 or elstauff@yahoo.com.
If you’re running late, need a partner or want to reserve a table call the club at (650) 344–4919. For other club information, see Andrew Binstock’s web site (www.meckwell.com/unit498). E–mail, fax or drop off material for this column in the club suggestion box. Please include your name and phone number in case I have any questions.
